Forschungskredit Postdoc

Through funding from the Forschungskredit, the University of Zurich supports its junior scholars at the doctoral level (Candoc) and the postdoctoral level (Postdoc). As expected, nearly 8 million CHF can be allocated to approved projects in the year 2018.

Qualified postdoctoral students embarking on an academic career receive Postdoc funding to support them in carrying out or finishing a research project at the UZH. Primarily salary funds are granted in order to provide researchers with protected research time for their project.

Who can submit an application?

Postdocs and habilitation candidates (until attainment of habilitation) who are either employed by or affiliated with the UZH due to planned research activities.

Female and male Postdocs whose research activities have been interrupted or delayed because of incompatibility reasons may apply simultaneously for the Suslowa-Postdoc-Fellowship.

Not eligible for funding are assistant professors, externally funded assistant professors, associate professors, and full professors.

What will be funded?

  • The applicant’s salary
  • The salary of a co-worker (for example, a PhD student)
  • Materials (on a limited scale)
  • Duration of funding is 24 months at the most

Usually, each project receives CHF 50'000-100'000.

When is the next deadline?

Calls for the Postdoc funding line take place once per annum. The next deadline for applications is set for 1 February 2019. The same deadline applies for applications for extensions. The earliest start of funding is 1 August 2019.
