A world without glaciers
In the SRF program "10 vor 10", the question of what would happen if all the world's glaciers melted was discussed. Prof. Michael Zemp from the World Glacier Monitoring Service (WGMS) is very well placed to assess the immediate consequences, as the technology platform collects and analyzes glacier data worldwide. His verdict: a sea level rise of around 65 meters. SNSF COST project at iPSCore
Melanie Generali and Affef Abidi-Ostorero of iPSCore technology platform, together with the CorEuStem network, have successfully secured support for a two-year COST project. The aim is to explore new innovative technologies and provide more precise and versatile gene editing in stem cells.

CRISPR Screening Hub
The UZH CRISPR Screening Hub, led by Prof. Simone Hornemann, will provide research groups with access to unique CRISPR libraries and expertise in conducting genome-wide screens starting in 2024. The Technology Commission will financially support the development of the new platform.

Successful Sinergia project at the Electrophysiology Facility (e-phac)
David Penton Ribas, along with Prof. Felix Beuschlein and Prof. Mark Robinson, has launched a research initiative supported by the SNSF Sinergia program and funded with over 1 million Swiss francs for the next three years. Their aim is to explore the intrinsic cellular heterogeneity of primary aldosteronism using novel techniques of the e-phac techonology platform.

8 of the 14 infrastructure projects included by SERI in the Swiss Roadmap for Research Infrastructures 2023 are carried out at UZH or with substantial UZH participation: ARES, IMPACT, Swiss Insitute for Drug and Device Development, OR-X, Swiss Digital Pathology Initiative, EM-Frontiers, SwissBioData Ecosystem & Imaging and Omics Platform for Swiss Citizen Health.
